Calgary Neighbourhoods

Welcome to Elboya...

Elboya is one of the prettiest communities in Calgary.

Starting at the Elbow River and stretching south up the side of a large, drawn-out hill, Elboya enjoys a unique topography that boasts views of both the Elbow Valley and the downtown skyline. Now, add to that 100-year-old trees lining the streets, and you’ve got a neighbourhood that feels like Sherwood Forest.

“The inner city is small, and spots like Elboya are always coveted,” says Michael O’Hara, president of the Elboya Community Association. “People target the area because the land can hold its value; plus, with some of the older homes, they can renovate or rebuild to get the home of their dreams.”

In recent years, this trend to buy and rebuild has seen a number of eye-catching new homes pop up. “That’s given the community even more charm,” O’Hara says. It’s easy to see why Elboya is so popular.

The major transportation arteries, Elbow Drive and Macleod Trail, give residents direct access to the downtown, which is only four kilometres away. And the Elbow River park and pathway system provides joggers and walkers with great trails to tackle.
